Privacy Policy

11 November 2023

Your privacy is paramount to us. We even rank your privacy higher than ease of use of the app. This policy explains how we use and protect your data at ResNet.

  • We identify you by a random 21-digit number that you receive when registering. No phone numbers, email addresses, cookies, names, or home addresses are required or requested.
  • You never receive any third-party advertisements or any third-party content.
  • We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party.
  • You have full control over what data you would like to share with ResNet and with your contacts on ResNet (the 7 categories happiness, love, social, etc., the general questions, the tags). You can decide to provide or share no data at all.
  • You can delete your account and data any time, either via the support section of the app (write a message with the content DELETE ACCOUNT) or write a message to support2024@resnet.me, providing us with your 21-digit recovery token to identify your account.

Collected data

The app asks you to provide personal data on a voluntary basis. You can decide not to provide any data.

  • Your country of residence
  • Your year of birth
  • Your gender
  • Your email address – as an alternative and simpler recovery method
  • Your step counts – in case you provide ResNet access in your Health Connect app, your step counts are uploaded to the ResNet server during the start screen when you open the app. We analyse your step counts in order to suggest you a health category score from 0 to 10, and to provide you with advice and education around physical activity on the Advice page of the Learn tab.
  • Several general questions that are used for aggregated insights, e.g. how much you are maintaining strong social relationships
  • Your current scores of the 7 categories happiness, love, social, etc. and the tags you can provide to describe each update of your scores
  • Your contacts on ResNet (links and followers)
  • Messages (after delivery, all messages are immediately deleted from the ResNet server)

Furthermore, the following technical data is collected without asking for your consent.

  • Unique device identifiers – these are needed to enable sending you push notifications
  • The local country code of your device is collected in order to keep track of the geographical spread of the app even if the country of residence is not provided

Service providers

To store data, we are using Ionos, a web hosting company with headquarters in Germany, see ionos.com. All data transfers are secured by using the https protocol. All app to server calls are signed.

Notifications

If you mark the switch to receive push notifications, ResNet will send you push notifications when you receive a new text message, a gift, or if there is an alert from one of your contacts. No content is shared in any notification, for example the text of a message. You can turn off notifications in the app.

Aggregate research results

Aggregate research results, e.g., what are the main drivers for high happiness scores, are shared in the insights section of the app. Sharing these insights is one of the key services of the app. The results are not connected to any personally identifiable information and your participation remains completely confidential. In particular, the research results are only provided after ResNet has a sufficiently large number of users, say, larger than 5000.

The app contains links to other websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any of those websites. Currently, we provide links to the following websites:

  • wid.world, the world inequality database
  • bigfive-test.com, big five personality test
  • raydium.io, an automated market maker
  • gapminder.org, and the links mentioned on gapminder.org
